Born in 1957 in Saint-Jean-de-Luz (Basque region of France), Jean-Marc Lanusse studied at the Ecole Estienne des Arts et Industries Graphiques in Paris. In 1982 he started his career as an illustrator for advertising, magazines and publishers.

In 2002 he illustrated a travel sketch book on the Basque Country (Carnet Basque, Editions du Quai Rouge) and another sketch book in 2003 on several Basque cities (Carnet Illustré: Guéthary, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Ciboure, Editions du Quai Rouge).

He currently focuses his time on his personal work of painting, photography and sculpture while continuing to sketch during his travels.

His work shows a different vision, often ironic, discerning in the apparent banality of things, some unexpected while others disturbing and amusing.

His works have been exhibited in San Francisco, Bardos, Guéthary, Pasajes San Juan, Ciboure, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Bayonne, Bordeaux and Paris.
